Privacy Policy
Effective October 21, 2026
Someone Prayed (formerly Prayback) is an iPhone app where people ask for prayer and pray for each other. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have. "We", "us" and "our" mean Someone Prayed, operated by Kevin Hall, an independent developer in New York, USA.
The short version: we collect only what the app needs to work. We don't sell your information, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across other apps or websites. You can delete your account and its content at any time from Settings in the app.
Information you give us
- Account details. When you sign up we receive your email address and a password (stored securely by our authentication provider), or, if you use Sign in with Apple, an identifier from Apple and the email Apple shares with us, which can be a private relay address.
- Profile. Your username, and a profile photo and short bio if you add them.
- Prayer requests. Who the request is for (for example "my mom"), the topic, any words you add, and the background you choose. You decide whether your first name is shown or the request is shared anonymously.
- Notes and updates. Notes of encouragement you leave for others, and updates you share when a prayer is answered.
- Reports and blocks. Content or people you report, the reason you give, and people you block.
- Messages to us. Anything you send when you contact support.
Information collected when you use the app
- Prayer activity. When you pray for someone's request, we record that you prayed and when. The person who asked is told that someone prayed, using your display name.
- Time zone. When you pray, we save your device's time zone (for example "America/New_York") so the person you prayed for can see roughly where prayers came from on a globe. We never collect your precise location or GPS.
- Notifications. If you allow notifications, we store your device's push token so we can tell you when someone prays for you.
- Purchases. Payments are handled entirely by Apple; we never see your card details. Our subscription provider, RevenueCat, receives your purchase records and your account ID so the app knows whether you have Plus or are a Supporter. We store whether you are an active Supporter, since that adds a Supporter heart to your requests, and whether you chose to show your username on the thank-you wall.
- Anonymous usage analytics. We use Aptabase, a privacy-focused analytics service, to count things like app opens and which features are used, along with device model, iOS version, app version, language and approximate country. It doesn't use advertising identifiers or collect information that identifies you.
- Security logs. Our servers keep routine logs, such as IP addresses and request times, for a short period to keep the service secure and working.
Information that stays on your iPhone
- Prayer cards you write, your daily reminder settings and your private journal are stored on your device. The journal can be locked with Face ID; your face data never leaves Apple's Face ID system.
- Apple Intelligence. When you use Apple Intelligence to draft a prayer card, the prayer is written on your iPhone by Apple's on-device model. We don't receive what you type or what it writes unless you choose to post it.
- Photos. If you save a prayer image, the app asks only for permission to add photos. It can't see your photo library.
What other people can see
Someone Prayed is a community, so some things are visible to other people in the app: your username and profile photo, the requests you share (with your first name or anonymously, as you choose), notes you leave, the Supporter heart if you are a Supporter, and your username on the thank-you wall only if you turn that on. Please don't share private details about other people, such as someone else's medical information, without their permission.
How we use information
- To run the app: show requests, record prayers, deliver notifications and keep your account working.
- To keep the community safe: automatically filter crude, sexual and hateful words, review reports, remove content that breaks our Terms, and act against accounts that misuse the app.
- To provide purchases and restore them on your devices.
- To understand, in aggregate, which features are used so we can improve the app.
- To answer you when you contact us, and to meet legal obligations.
Who we share information with
We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. We share it only with service providers that help us run the app, under agreements that limit how they can use it:
- Supabase hosts our database and sign-in.
- RevenueCat manages purchases and subscriptions.
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple, payments and push notifications.
- Aptabase provides anonymous usage analytics.
- Microsoft Azure Speech, if you use read-aloud with a natural voice: the prayer text is sent to create the audio and isn't kept by us.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a sale or transfer of the app, in which case this policy would continue to apply.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your information while your account is open. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings, then Delete account. This permanently removes your profile, requests, prayers and notes from our systems. Copies may remain in routine backups for a short time before they are overwritten. Anonymous analytics can't be linked back to you. If you can't access the app, email us and we'll delete your account for you.
Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile, post anonymously, hide your name from the thank-you wall, or delete requests at any time.
- Turn notifications off in iOS Settings.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing [email protected].
Depending on where you live (for example in the European Union, the United Kingdom or California), you may have additional rights, including the right to object to or restrict certain processing and to complain to your local data protection authority. We'll respond to requests within 30 days. We rely on providing the service you asked for, our legitimate interest in keeping the community safe and improving the app, and your consent (for notifications) as our legal bases.
Children
Someone Prayed is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
Information is encrypted in transit, and access to our database is restricted so that people can only change their own information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will let you know if a breach affects you.
Where information is processed
Our service providers may store and process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app. Continuing to use Someone Prayed after an update means you accept the new policy.
